CODE - THE PEND
Having previously collaborated with CODE on several of their short-stay accommodation and events spaces, we were delighted to partner with them again on their latest project, The Pend.
This time, the brief was to reimagine a sprawling multi-room basement beneath their apart-hotel, The Court — a former Victorian jail and courthouse — transforming it into a suite of amenity spaces for guests. The result is a welcome area, co-working zone, kitchen and eatery, chill-out lounges, a cinema and events room, and a library, each with its own character.
The design deliberately splits in two: light, Scandi-inspired interiors define the co-working and kitchen spaces, while the cinema and library lean darker, moodier, and more eccentric — nodding to the building's storied past.
